It’s a must to sign up as a contributor with Shutterstock. They are racing head-to-head with iStockphoto for the first spot.
They only sell images on a subscription plan basis which means that the buyer pays a flat fee for a month, 3 months or a year in order to download up to 25 images a day.
Contributors’ lowest commission level is 25 US cents per download (this increases over time as you sell more images). Several different subscription plans allow individual commission of up to US$28 per sale (Enhanced License).
Super-successful contributors manage to sell over 1000 images a day! Even at 25 cents that’s more than $250 per day. Of course download numbers vary by day (weekdays or weekend).
Shutterstock will be one of your top earners. Don’t miss out on this one. Also they have a good forum with a bunch of very helpful forum members.
Shutterstock also recently acquired Bigstockphoto in order to extend their product range to offer credit based image purchases.
